Travel Safety

Last updated 6 November 2026

Your safety comes first on every trip. Here is what we do, and a few simple things we ask of our guests.

1. Our drivers and vehicles

  • Drivers are experienced on Meghalaya's hill roads.
  • Vehicles are kept clean and checked regularly.
  • Drivers will not drive in conditions they consider unsafe.

2. Weather and roads

  • Monsoon (June–September) brings heavy rain and occasional landslides. Plans may change at short notice.
  • We follow local advisories and may change the order of sightseeing to keep you safe.

3. At waterfalls, rivers and viewpoints

  • Stay behind railings and on marked paths.
  • Swim or go boating at Dawki and other rivers only where allowed, and always wear a life jacket.
  • Stone steps to root bridges and falls can be slippery. Wear shoes with good grip.

4. Permits

  • Indian visitors to Arunachal Pradesh need an Inner Line Permit; foreign visitors need a Protected Area Permit.
  • We will help you with the documents needed for your route.

5. Respect local customs

  • Many villages and sacred groves have their own rules. Please follow signs and your driver's advice.
  • Do not litter, and do not take anything from sacred forests.

6. In an emergency

  • Call us at any time during your trip on our listed numbers.
  • National emergency number: 112.
